Buying and Selling Homes has Never been this Easy.
HomeLister — Real Estate Platform Redesign (UI/UX)
Inherited an established but underperforming real estate platform and led a comprehensive redesign — rearchitecting core user flows, introducing new service offerings, and executing a brand refresh to modernize the overall experience.
Before touching a single screen, I conducted deep competitive research across the major players — Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, and others — studying each platform's flow, search behavior, and information architecture from the inside out. We ultimately drew inspiration from Redfin's navigation model, particularly its smart search and filter system, which became a cornerstone of the redesigned experience.
The central design challenge was twofold: clearly communicating HomeLister's free-to-list, pay-only-at-sale model, and guiding users through the inherently complex task of building a complete home listing without losing them. We solved this through a carefully paced, save-and-resume listing flow that subtly surfaced upsell services — professional photography, video, Matterport 3D virtual tours, yard signs, and more — without disrupting momentum. Flat-fee pricing was given its own dedicated page for transparency.
Once listed, HomeLister automatically syncs to the local MLS and major platforms including Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com. The seller dashboard centralizes everything — listing management, showing scheduling, open house coordination, lockbox access, and direct buyer communication — into a single, accessible view. We extended the platform further with HomeLister Live Tours for virtual showings, and built out a complete transaction flow covering offer receipt, counteroffers, acceptance, digital document signing, legal disclosures, and closing coordination.
Responsive design was treated as a first-class requirement throughout — every screen was tightly optimized across mobile, tablet, and widescreen breakpoints. The result was a full-featured, intuitive platform that put sellers genuinely in control of their own home sale.
